I don't get it, why is the westboro baptist church so bad?

As far as the anti-gay wing of the Christian Church which has turned phobia into idolatry, they are all the same. But there are thousands and thousands of Christians--gay and straight--who believe phobia is sinful. There are thousands of pro-equality churches that find phobia to be morally repugnant. Decent Christians don't claim that "Treat others as you want to be treated" really means "Take away the civil rights from law-abiding, taxpaying, gay Americans."
