My fiances face is paralyzed! Bells Palsy! Help me understand?

Half his face just became paralyzed, he can now blink his left eye a little after 2 days, but the doctor in the ER said there was no treatment and give it a week. We dont exactly have that much faith and would like to know more. Not about bells palsy, about recovery and odds of full recovery mainly. Be serious please.
