Possible to live with little or no metal?

Is it possible if Earth was made up of metal so scarce like gold, would Earth still be like how it is today? Like copper, tin, bronze, etc and all common cheap metals easily dug up, if it became down to simply so scarce, it is easily in element forms in soils for plants and our body but not large enough to hold it in our hand?
