Should I get a colonoscopy and get it over with even though I saw bright red blood from my rectum?

Even if I think it's a hemorrhoid, I should get it over with so everybody will get of my back and stop hounding me, including my doctor. I'm 62 years old and never, ever had a colonoscopy.
